Your RUC information is always in your pocket

Start by downloading the free myRUC app from your preferred provider. You use the app to add and manage your vehicle, view your current RUC licence, purchase and renew RUC, receive reminders, and transfer your updated licence to the myRUC digital display.

Use the myRUC app to:

3. Set up myRUC and go

The myRUC app guides you through the full setup process

That’s it. Your current RUC information is available in the app and displayed inside your vehicle, and the app reminds you when it is time to check your distance and purchase more RUC.

  • Create your account and add your vehicle
  • Install your display inside the windscreen
  • Enter the current odometer reading from your dashboard

A one-off $285 incl. GST purchase for your myRUC Digital Display. This may not be needed if NZ road user charging goes fully digital in the future.

RUC licence charges

NZTA set by Waka Kotahi

The RUC charges themselves come from Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and vary depending on the distance purchased and the weight class of your vehicle.

Your complete transaction total is displayed before you approve payment. All RUC service payments, including those to NZTA, are made within the myRUC app using the same secure POLi banking payment method used when paying via NZTA.

It establishes a secure connection to your bank within the app and allows you to pay directly from your own bank account. Easy.
